Help the Maas' have a kid!

Hi! I'm Susie. Melinda and I have been BFF's since kindergarten. Melinda is a magical person and children have always been her life. Pretty much since she has been old enough to do so, Melinda has been helping to raise children in her community. Sometimes she seems like a local celebrity when I visit her in the Yampa Valley, where she lives and has been working with children for the past 18 years. Melinda is currently a local preschool director and has been teaching for 14 years.

Melinda is meant to be a mom. Ehren, her fun and creative husband would also make a phenomenal father. I truly believe that they would make the world better by raising children to live in it.

Here's where we have a problem: Melinda and Ehren have been trying desperately for almost 3 years to conceive. They have experienced so many issues along the way: two miscarriages, 5 unsuccessful IUI treatments, and spent about $5,000 so far on this journey. The doctors can't seem to figure out why it's been so hard for them and they have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. In Vitro Fertilization(IVF) is recommended. BUT, insurance does not cover IVF and it costs around $30k in the US. The Maas' are considering going to Mexico for this treatment, where it will cost around $10k. With this option, however, Melinda would have to take at least 3 weeks off of work to travel to Mexico and receive the treatment and Ehren would have to take one week off.

All that said, they need our help to get IVF. They are going to do everything they can to have a kid. No matter which route they take, the cost is going to be astronomical.
