Help the Lockes: Brixton's Medical Battle

What was supposed to be a normal week turned into a terrifying several-day stay at Texas Children's Hospital for our friends Mason and Kendall Locke and their three year old son, Brixton Locke. What started as strep throat quickly spiraled into severe thrush, oral blisters, and dehydration -- leading to multiple ER visits and finally, hospital admission. After several days of uncertainty, Brixton tested positive for HSV-1 (Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1) -- the same virus that causes cold sores. In babies and young children, it can be far more serious, especially when it's their first exposure. It can lead to what's called primary herpetic gingivostomatitis, which causes extremely painful mouth sores, swelling, and trouble eating or drinking--exactly what Brixton has been battling for the last 7 days.

If you know Kendall & Mason, you know they are the kind of people who show up for everyone. Kendall runs a thriving salon in town and juggles it all with grit, humor, and heart. But four days in the hospital with a sick toddler... the emotional toll, the missed work, the looming bills... it's a lot. Especially when you're self-employed.

This fundraiser is simply to help lighten the load. Whether it goes toward hospital bills, lost income, childcare, or just catching their breath -- it all matters. Every dollar will go directly towards Kendall so she can use it however her family needs it most right now.
