Dear friends, family, and supporters,
On August 11th, just two days after his 60th birthday, our beloved father, Thomas (Han-uk) Lee, passed away unexpectedly from liver cancer. His passing’s been a shock to everyone who knew him. Just weeks before, we returned from a memorable family trip to Korea, completely unaware of what was to come.
It all started when he began experiencing stomach pain while helping his oldest daughter move to New Jersey. We thought it might be something minor, but tests revealed it was serious. He was rushed to the hospital, and within days, we learned that his liver was failing. Things spiraled quickly from there—his kidneys shut down, and just five days after being admitted, we had to make the most painful decision of our lives to let him go peacefully with his family by his side.
Our father was more than just a parent—he was a kind, hardworking man who touched the lives of everyone around him. His positivity and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband and father to three children, and even in his final days, he was thinking more about us than himself. Losing him has been devastating, and it’s hard to put into words how much he meant to us.
With his passing, our family is facing significant unexpected financial burdens. Unfortunately, our dad didn’t have insurance, so the medical bills, funeral/cremation, and other related expenses quickly added up- with hospital bills racking over $150,000. We’ve all had to take off work and put our career or education on hold, adding to the financial strain.
We’re reaching out to our community, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly challenging time. Any support you can provide—whether through a donation or simply sharing this page—would mean the world to us as we try to navigate this life without our father, husband, friend.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for helping us honor our dad’s memory. Your support means more than words can say.
