Help The Lambs recover after a flood
Donation protected
Hey All,
I am Laura Koyata and I am trying to help out my sister and her family.
The Lamb family just lost all of their furniture, house furnishings, most of James’s music gear and 100 other things including family heirlooms after a broken pipe/sprinkler burst in their storage unit and ran for hours (possibly days because the staff were on holiday). They estimate that 8-12” of water poured into their belongings and fast.
The emotional and financial stress of this event, on top of dealing with two months of non-stop stress and grief; 2 family deaths, 3 weeks of sickness, a child w pneumonia, discovering 10,000$ in identity theft fraud, quitting jobs, starting new jobs, packing and moving in a week is beyond.
They had just put ALL their belongings in storage on Dec 16th so they could quickly be with Em’s grieving mum for Christmas and rushed the move so another family could be home for the holidays in their old rental house in Nanaimo. They hadn’t switched insurance yet from home rental to storage.
They are devastated. Crushed by the financial costs of returning to the island this past week. Debilitated by the thought of replacing all their furniture (namely a nearly brand-new mattress they had just paid off). They didn’t have much to begin with but now have very little to start again with. Any help you can offer is warmly welcomed in this frustrating and overwhelming time.
Thank you for anything you can manage
