Help the Koehler family return home!!

Our dear friend Keesha needs your help. Anyone who has ever met Keesha and her family knows what extraordinary and kind-hearted people they are. Keesha has dedicated her life to sharing the gospel and serving the Lord. She has spent several years of her career as a preschool teacher at Prince of Peace Christian School. She has raised her own daughter Krystal and also opened her heart and home to extended family, including her 3 nieces Tyiesha, Destiny, and Jakayla. Tyiesha, who is special needs will be under Keesha's care for the rest of her life. Keesha is a loving caretaker and not the type to ask for help- she would rather listen to your troubles than tell you her own. She agreed to let her story be shared only after much prayer and consideration.

Keesha purchased her Dallas townhome in 2005. During the ice and snow storm in February 2021, her downstairs flooded from a frozen pipe bursting. The family lived in a hotel for a couple of months trying to get necessary repairs done. The general contractor recommended by the insurance company took the insurance check, did shoddy, incomplete work, and also further damaged her roof while “evaluating” it. Due to the extensive roof damage, additional flooding occurred in the house. The contractor has refused to give back the money he took, forcing her to sue him; however, litigation often takes years to complete. Her insurance company has also refused to cover the additional damage caused and will not replace the money the contractor already took. They are also resisting extending her temporary rent coverage any further. As such, Keesha is under major financial strain to pay her mortgage on her townhome, living expenses, storage, and rent on the small apartment she is living in with the girls.

We have high hopes for a miracle that our community will give generously to this worthy cause. We are working to get a comprehensive assessment of the total repairs needed, but one early bid indicates it will be quite large (into the six-figure range) and well past any remaining proceeds her insurance company has agreed to. Our goal here is to raise enough to start and then ultimately finish the necessary repairs to get her family back in the home as well as help with rent in the meantime. Any donation would be so appreciated! If you or anyone you know could help with this fundraising or know anyone in the home repair business who could help, please reach out.
