Hi. My name is Margie Johnson from Membertou, Nova Scotia. I am the mother of the late Shaylene Cecelia Mae Johnson, my beloved first born. Shaylene was brutally murdered on July 23, 2024 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She was only 42 years old. Left behind are 4 children: Trennan Paul 15, Skyla Paul 14, Ma'kit Paul 12, and Tanis Johnson 10. The two oldest children live with their aunt Krystal Johnson with her 4 children; Ma'kit lives with Shaylene's best friend, Raylene Denny; the youngest lives with her father, Aaron Trenholm in Millbrook NS.
Shaylene was a proud and beautiful Mikmaq woman who was passionate about life, family, friends and her culture.
She also left behind a house that needs a lot of repair and furniture. Our community of Membertou will be providing the necessary repairs thankfully but it needs to be furnished as there was a mold problem for years. Her youngest sister and her only brother cleaned and emptied the house shortly after her untimely death. Barely anything was salvageable. Now her father Clifford Paul and I have made a decision that our oldest grandson, Bryden Johnson, will be the guardian of the two oldest children, Trennan and Skyla. He is so proud and happy that we entrust this position to him as he is a well rounded and more than capable young man of 21. The GoFundMe account funds will be used to purchase the much needed furniture for the home: fridge, stove, table and chairs, sofas, tvs, beds and bedding, washer, dryer, curtains, dressers, and other household items.
Any donations will be forever and truly appreciated by our entire family. We still have a lot to go through as a family... The court process is so emotionally draining and difficult for all. It would be relieving if we could provide all this for her children so they can have a stable and comfortable home. Thank you for your time, prayers and generosity.
