Help the Joseph Family After Fire Tragedy
Donation protected
The worse news a family can receive during the holiday season is that their home has gone up into flames, unfortunately for my family, this was our harsh reality.
On Saturday, December 7, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the first floor of our home burst into flames, thankfully our younger sister Cindy managed to escape, unscathed of physical harm.
Conversely, our brother Peterson Joseph was not as fortunate as Cindy, as he was trapped on the third floor of the unit. To attempt to save himself from the fiery flames, Peterson jumped from a small window. Although Peterson made it out of the fire, he sustained life-threatening injuries such as a fractured neck, fractured spine, broken arm, smoke damage to lungs, and 2nd degree burns on his leg, face and head. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, intubated, and is slowly recovering from spinal and neck surgery. The source of the fire remains undetermined.
Everything in our home was destroyed, from family heirlooms, memorabilia, photos, items of sentimental value, furniture, clothing; everything was unsalvageable.
At the time of the fire incident, our mother, Rose Joseph, was in the hospital recovering from some minor, non-life-threatening medical issues. A couple days after the incident, she was temporarily placed in a nursing home in hopes of receiving adequate, round-the-clock care and was scheduled to be discharged on December 19th.
We kept as much as possible from Mom concerning Peterson mainly because we did not want to overwhelm her with such rigid and sometimes daunting updates about his recovery process. As if things weren’t bad enough, On December 13, 2024, the birthdate of her 9-year-old grandson, just about 1-week after the fire, our beloved mother received misinformation about Peterson’s progress and suffered a fatal heart attack.
It is impossible to fathom such a tragedy could happen to us, let alone adequately prepare for the next steps. We’ve done the best we can to weather the storm while placing our faith and hope in God, but we know faith without works is void.
Given the uncertainty of what’s to come, or how we can recover from this tragedy, we ask with a humble heart, to monetarily help our family sustain themselves, and thus restore some glimpse of hope. Our goal is for the donations to act as a means of support for Peterson and Cindy such as, housing, clothing, food, and overall day to day necessities in addition to the planning and preparation for our mother’s funeral arrangements.
The scripture says in Matthew 18:20, “when two or three are gathered in his name (our father God), there he is in the midst. We ask that you all stand in agreement with us, as we decree and declare that God unfolds his miraculous healing power over our family as we transition into the healing and restoration phase post this horrific chain of unfortunate events.
Love,
The Joseph Family
