- I

Hello Everyone, thank you for taking the time to view our GoFundMe page. I'm Cara Jarrett and I'm raising funds on behalf of my in-laws and extended family.
On October 28, Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica and left a path of destruction that hit our family directly. Our family home in Montego Bay suffered severe structural damage from heavy winds and flooding. Sections of the roof were torn off, walls were damaged, windows shattered, and essential belongings destroyed. What was once a safe and welcoming space is now in urgent need of repair.
This home has been a gathering place for our extended family — including many relatives who return to Jamaica to stay connected to their roots. It is where cousins reunite, grandparents share stories, and visitors find comfort and belonging. To see it damaged so badly has been heartbreaking for all of us.
The Jarrett and Thompson families are hardworking and resilient, but rebuilding after a natural disaster in Jamaica is incredibly difficult. Materials are expensive, labor costs are high, and relief support is slow or limited.
We are asking for your support to help us rebuild and make the home safe again. Funds will go directly toward critical repairs including
• Roofing supplies and labor
• Wall and foundation repairs
• Electrical rewiring and plumbing restoration
• Replacement of windows and doors
• Clean-up and rebuilding of living spaces
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word. Your kindness and support mean more than we can express, and we are truly grateful.
Thank you for helping us bring our family home back to life.
