<div>On October 28, Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica and left a path of destruction that hit our family directly. Our family home in Montego Bay suffered severe structural damage from heavy winds and flooding. Sections of the roof were torn off, walls were damaged, windows shattered, and essential belongings destroyed. What was once a safe and welcoming space is now in urgent need of repair.

<div>This home has been a gathering place for our extended family — including many relatives who return to Jamaica to stay connected to their roots. It is where cousins reunite, grandparents share stories, and visitors find comfort and belonging. To see it damaged so badly has been heartbreaking for all of us.

<div>The Jarrett and Thompson families are hardworking and resilient, but rebuilding after a natural disaster in Jamaica is incredibly difficult. Materials are expensive, labor costs are high, and relief support is slow or limited.
