Robert and Amanda met one February evening in 2015. Little did they know they would be married 16 months later. They met a little later in life, both in their thirties, and were both instantly ready to start a family. Amanda is a first-grade teacher with an intense love of children. Robert is a nurturing family man that would love to carry on the family name. After almost a year of trying they decided to seek help.
Robert and Amanda started seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE). After a battery of tests, they found out that there were issues on both sides that were preventing them from having children the old-fashioned way. They underwent several rounds of Intrauterine Insemination, or IUI’s, in hopes that that would work for them, but they each failed.
Robert and Amanda then sought out a second opinion and there they were told that their best chances of having the family they so desire are through the Invitro Fertilization (IVF) process. This was devastating news because, as most people know, teachers don’t make much money! In Missouri, infertility treatments are considered elective procedures and once you are diagnosed there is little to no help from most insurance companies. They had spent thousands of dollars just to get to this point, now they were going to need at least $20,000 to go through the first round alone.
After a few months of saving up, Amanda and Robert realized they were going to need a little help in getting to their $20,000 plus goal. Many family members encouraged them to start a GoFundMe and they finally agreed. So here we are. If you can help, they would be very appreciative of any donations you can make. If you can’t help monetarily, please lift them up in prayer as they go through this difficult time.
