Lloyd and Janice Hedman moved to Union County (the smallest county in the state of Florida) in 1971. They have been living there and growing their legacy to this current day, 50 years later. Their love has bloomed into 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren (so far).
2 years after they moved there, Lloyd threw himself into service helping the community by being on the volunteer fire department. The very next year he became Fire Chief of that department and held that position for 25 years.
Janice also served their small, loving community by driving a school bus. She loved it so much she retired TWICE, all while being foster parents to many children over a 5 year period. After Lloyd was physically unable to do the hard labor jobs, he also started driving a bus for their local schools.

This is where the positive energy changed.
In November of 2014, Lloyd was coming home from a local high school football game and ran a stop sign in a poorly lit area. He crashed his car into a tree, and should not have survived. He had broken bones from his ribs down and had to have MANY surgeries in order to get back to a somewhat normal life. He was no longer able to work, because he was learning how to walk all over again. At this point, being in their 70's, it was hard to find a job to help pay for the medical bills and needs they would face with Lloyd being in physical therapy and needing additional procedures.

Lloyd eventually was able to walk again, but would never be able to work again, and their financial issues started piling up. In December of 2018, Janice fell and broke her collar bone, and 6 months later Lloyd fell, and broke his femur. Sending him back to square one, where he has been bedridden ever since. His body could never fully recover. Fast forward to Covid-19 and illnesses, and they have gotten to a point where they are in need of help...big help.
Both of their mental states were being tested by these last 7 years, and then...it happened. They were served with papers stating that their house was being taken. They had fallen behind on their taxes and home insurance which was part of the agreement with the mortgage company, and now they are trying to take their home. The home they have raised all of their children and grandchildren in. The home with family cookouts and kickball games in the front yard. Their home and property is right in the middle of many family lots, and they are trying desperately to keep it in the family. Unfortunately, with Covid-19 and other financial issues, the rest of the family is unable to provide any more financially than we already have.
We are reaching out to our community (far and wide) to help come together and try to help this family that has done so much for their community. Please share this as far as you can in order for us to keep their house, land, and legacy with the family. We have had so much taken away from us mentally and emotionally, and just need a ray of hope.
Thank you ahead of time for any donations, anything donated will go towards the money owed to the bank and tax certificates in order to pay off whatever we can for them to keep their house and prevent this from happening again.
