Help the Hamilton’s Keep Their Business and Home
Donation protected
My name is Shaynna Gaskin. I am a wife to Colin Gaskin, and a mother to 2 beautiful children. I am the daughter of Lance and Melissa Hamilton. I have started this fund in hopes that I can help my parents and lift a burden for them. They are small business owners of a small diesel business in Mississippi. My grandfather built the business with his own hands, back in the 1980’s. My dad has worked there since he was 15 years old and bought the company, as part of my grandparents retirement, back in 2010. They have had a successful business for many years, and then Covid came. For the last 4 years, the business has been on a steady decline. He is one of the last few small diesel shops of his kind that has made it through to this point. That is until now. Since April of this year, my dad (and mom) have done literally everything in their power to keep the doors open. They have several employees that have worked for them for 25+ years and depend on them as well. They are all like family. For the last 7 years, my husband works there as well.
For months my dad has worked 7 days a week, with only 4-5 hours of sleep at times, to keep money coming in. At this time, they have exhausted all options and will have to close their doors on October 25th and file bankruptcy. The agonizing part of that story is that not only will they lose their business, but they will also lose their home, and my grandparents will lose their retirement. The property and home is tied in with the business, so losing the business means losing their home and everything they’ve ever known for the last 40+ years. The “unknown” is terrifying, and not being to help them is heart shattering. They are the definition of “good people” and would give their time and money to anyone who needed it. My parents are THE most giving and hardest working people I know. I never understand why terrible things happen to great people. We are a Christian family who loves and serves the Lord. I know we are not perfect, and we don’t claim to be. I know that ultimately God will see to it and that they will prevail through this time.
If you feel lead, please donate to this GoFundMe. I have set a goal that I hope will provide for them in the weeks/months that they may be without an income. I am not financially able to solely support them through this and it makes me feel SO HELPLESS. I literally cannot describe the feeling accurately. Seeing my mother go through her belongings and selling everything to make sure they have enough money to hold them over, makes my heart physically ache and I just cannot take it anymore. So, I will swallow my pride and ASK will you PLEASE help me, help my parents.
With a loving heart and all of my gratitude, I thank you for everything. Even if it is just a prayer for them.
Sincerely,
Shaynna Gaskin
