Hello everyone, my name is Phyllis Goodridge. On Tuesday, April 21st at approximately 6:50am a fire started in our backyard spreading to the house and into our home. Fortunately my neighbors stepped in to alert our family of the fire and my parents were safely evacuated. Our family cat Anubis, however, was still hiding inside and later passed away due to the smoke.
I was lucky enough to be at my dorm at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, but by time I got there, I couldn’t recognize the home that I grew up in.
Anything truly helps as my family and I try to pick up pieces of our sanctuary for the past 30+ years.
Any donations will help my family get new clothes, mattresses, food, water, furniture, and rebuilding our home which we will need to do from scratch. If you cannot donate, sharing this link will help to show others in our community our situation.
I am extremely grateful for my Old Bridge neighbors, firefighters (from Monroe, Manalapan, Morganville and Cheesequake as well), police, Red Cross, Mayor Walker and animal control for taking care of my family and me.
