Support the Ford-Yun Family after the Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and community,

We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping the Ford & Yun Family, who just lost everything to Eaton wildfire in Altadena, CA.

Like many in Altadena, this multigenerational family evacuated with just the clothes on their backs, expecting to return in a day or two, only to have their house and all their possessions reduced to ashes in the Eaton fire.

Peter and Veronica Yun, now 85 and 82, devoted Christians, emigrated from South Korea in their 50s, starting over from scratch and working tirelessly to build a better future for their four daughters. Alongside their third daughter Alex and their son-in-law John Ford, they poured their hearts into their Altadena home, a home where love flourished and every corner held a cherished memory. The loss is unimaginable for them, and in hours their entire world has been turned upside down.

John is not only a dedicated educator at the Pasadena Art Center, where he inspires the next generation of artists, but he is also a passionate artist, running a wood-working business that reflects his artistic vision and hard work. His talent and creativity have left a lasting impact on his students, clients, and community. Now, as he faces this unexpected challenge, we have the opportunity to support someone who has given so much of himself to others. Adding to the heartbreak, John’s parents, Tom (77) and Elsie (79), also lost their own Altadena home in the Eaton fire, making this tragedy even more profound for their family.

Alex is not only a devoted educator working for the LCUSD, shaping young minds with her passion and commitment but also a gifted illustrator and printmaker. Her business, “Axillustration,” was more than just a career; it was her passion, her dream. She lost her home, her art studio, her equipment, and the space where she created handmade print products that brought joy to so many. The emotional toll of this loss is immeasurable.

John and Alex’s children, Aiden and Sydney, were both born and raised in this home -- it's all they've ever known. Their memories, their childhood, and everything that made their family whole were anchored here. This fall, Aiden left for his first year of college with big dreams and a bright future, only to find that there is no home now to return to. Sydney, thirteen, is grappling with the devastation of losing not just her home and all the sentimental treasures that shaped her life, but the loss of her school and her community. Both are exceptional students with golden hearts and though they are resilient, the emotional weight of this loss is beyond words. Their two rescue cats, Elton and Luna, who found their forever home during the challenging days of the COVID pandemic, are now suddenly adrift again.

We are raising funds to help the Ford & Yun Family survive through this challenging time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. If a financial contribution is not possible, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us. Your support will help spread the word and make a huge impact.

We are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and any support you can provide during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we can help the Ford & Yun Family rise from the ashes and continue to inspire us all with their resilience, creativity, and spirit.

With gratitude,

The family and friends of Ford & Yun Family
