Michael and Allison Floyd are beloved members of our community whose kindness and compassion have touched so many lives. Both are educators for Garland Independent School District and have dedicated their lives to our youth. Their children attend our church on Wednesday nights, and my daughter is best friends with their daughter. The Floyds have always opened their hearts to those around them, especially animals in need, rescuing and caring for pets with unwavering dedication.
On Saturday night, after an early Mother's Day dinner, Michael and Allison returned home to find their house engulfed in flames, with their pets trapped inside. The fire was a total loss, claiming several of their beloved animals, all of their personal belongings, and leaving their home in ruins. Their middle child, a 13-year-old girl, bravely went through a window into the burning home to try to save their pets, suffering smoke inhalation and a major laceration that required hospitalization. The five members of the Floyd family have been completely displaced, left with nothing, and now face the daunting task of starting over.
The funds raised through this campaign will help provide temporary housing, clothing, and food for Michael and Allison, their children, and the surviving pets. The Floyds have always given so much to others, and now they need our help. The loss of their home and the animals they worked so hard to save has been truly devastating. I can see the hurt in their eyes, and I want to help them in any way I can. No child should have to endure the heartbreak of watching their home go up in flames and losing beloved pets. Please join me in supporting this wonderful family as they rebuild their lives after this tragedy.
