Help the Fifth Avenue Place Cafeteria Workers
Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, many of the workers in the Fifth Avenue Place cafeteria are being laid off without pay until further notice. If you've ever visited the cafeteria then you know how hardworking and friendly the staff is, and if you visit it often then you probably know a lot of them personally.
These people and their families will be affected significantly by the loss of work hours. Even a short time away can be very tough financially, and we can all help them to bridge the gap until they are able to go back to work again.
Let's show our appreciation for everything they have done for us, and help them and their families at a time when they need it most. Every little bit counts, and will make a real difference in helping those that help us every day.
EDIT: At the request of GoFundMe, we are providing an update on how the money will be distributed. We have a list of the names and years of service of all employees, and all funds raised will be distributed as follows:
Less than 1 year: 1 point (8 employees, ~2.1% each)
1-5 years : 2 points (3 employees, ~4.3% each)
5-10 years: 3 points (3 employees, ~6.4% each)
10+ years: 4 points (6 employees, ~8.5% each)
Jeff Mathews will be withdrawing the money and handling the distribution using each employee's preferred payment method, either a check sent to their home address or the electronic transfer method of their choice.
Thanks again to everyone for their amazing kindness and generosity during a difficult time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the organizers with any questions.
