If you saw us on HGTV’s House Hunters (Season 234, Episode 8), you watched our journey from van life to choosing my wife’s late grandmother’s home in Atlanta as our forever home. What you saw on TV was the very real aftermath of a devastating water line break — the house had already suffered severe flooding damage before we moved in.

Our plan was to fully restore the home and bring it back to life as part of our family legacy. But after filming ended, we were hit with a huge setback: our insurance claim was denied. That left us with a severely damaged home, no support, and a renovation we’ve had to take on ourselves — slowly, piece by piece.

Since the episode aired, many of you have reached out asking, “How’s the house coming along?” The truth is… we’re only about 25% finished. It’s been nearly two years, and while we’ve poured everything we can into it, we simply can’t do it alone.
