Hello, My name is Kaitlyn Swars, and I am the fiancé of Juniper Doyle, and the Daughter in Law of Erin and Laura Doyle. I have been living with the family for a little over a year, but have been close with them for more than 5 years.
On June 27th 2024, Erin and Laura were going out for a ride on the motorcycle, It was a perfect day to do so. That morning, there was nothing out of the ordinary. They were gonna go for a ride, and come home. I was at work when I received a phone call from Juniper. she was sobbing, and kept telling me to come home. I promptly left work, and had to detour a road that was closed from a wreck. moments after the detour, I received a phone call from my brother in law, DJ.
In that phone call, I learned some surreal heartbreaking news.
Erin and Laura had gotten into an accident. A Tow Truck had hit them. according to a witness report, Erin saw the impact coming, it was unavoidable. he stood up on his motorcycle, and leaned back into Laura to protect her. He passed away on impact, and Laura was flown to the Hospital.
Laura had severe injuries, 8 broken ribs, a lacerated liver, and needed to get her left leg amputated. The amputation was a little above the knee, so thankfully there is room and possibility for a prosthesis. She also sustained a brain bleed, but it miraculously healed on its own.
July 22nd 2024, Laura was transferred to a rehabilitation center. Despite the injuries Laura has sustained, she is healing and doing great with her recovery. She is able to move herself in a wheelchair, a walker, and eventually will be able to use crutches. Once her amputation calluses, she will be fitted for a prosthetic.
This entire situation feels surreal. Just a month ago, we were all together without a worry in the world. no one ever expected anything like this to happen out of nowhere. I can't wrap my head around why something like this happens to good people, but the most important thing through this situation is the family we have built. we are all struggling yes, but family is the most important thing right now, and I am so happy that we are all here together to get through this.
There is no definite set amount of support that the family needs, but anything to the family counts. All of these funds will be put to Bills, Food, Necessities, Prescriptions, anything we NEED.
I Thank everyone taking the time to read though this, and everyone who has supported us through this tough time.
