After an incredibly difficult and emotional journey, Devin and Megan's sweet

Everett James was born on January 25th at 6:18 AM via emergency C-section under general anesthesia at just 27 weeks gestation—far earlier than they ever expected.

Megan's water broke unexpectedly on January 21st, and after several days in the hospital trying to delay labor, their little warrior made his entrance into the world, weighing just 2 lbs 7 oz.

Everett is now in the NICU, where he has an amazing team taking care of him. He has been described as “feisty” and “determined,” and we know he is a fighter.

However, his journey has not been easy.

On February 16th, he was diagnosed with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC)—a severe intestinal condition that made him critically ill. We truly feared that we were going to lose him. It was the scariest moment of their lives.

Miraculously, Everett has continued to fight, and his most recent X-rays show no more signs of NEC!

He is getting stronger, trialing lower levels of respiratory support, Megan and Devin finally got to see his precious face without all the tubes—an indescribable moment of joy in the midst of so much uncertainty.

Everett has a long road ahead will likely remain in the NICU for at least 2 more months, and the emotional, physical, and financial toll has been overwhelming.
