(Español abajo) On November 11, Sergio left for work at 5:30am, but never returned home to his family. That morning, following a last-minute work project cancellation, Sergio offered to drive his neighbors to work who didn’t have transportation. After dropping off his neighbors, Sergio was stopped by ICE agents who detained him and towed his vehicle.
His partner Maria was expecting him back given the project cancellation, but he never returned. After calling Sergio over and over to no avail, she reached out to a family member who connected her with Sergio’s boss. Sergio’s boss traced his truck to a holding lot and they then knew he had been taken.
Sergio called Maria from a detention center in Virginia later that night, but he was unaware of his exact location. Maria has been checking the ICE detainee locator, but his information is not available - leaving her and the family in the dark about his exact location.
Sergio has built a life in the United States for 25 years. He and Maria have two daughters, a 1-year-old and a 6-year old. With Sergio gone, Maria must make ends meet to support their two children. Without regular, full-time employment, Maria relies on cleaning office buildings and taking as many shifts as she can.
Please consider donating any amount to this family who is in need of your support. Funds donated will be used for rent, food, diapers, and warm clothes for the children for the coming winter months.
