I’m creating this fundraiser for my family, Lupe and Sandra Cisneros, because they’re the kind of people who would never ask for help themselves. If you’ve ever met them, you know exactly who they are. They’re the family that’s always there. Sandra is the heart behind Hechos en Casita por Sandy, creating beautiful baked goods and events, but what makes her truly special is the joy she finds in making people feel loved. Birthdays, baby showers, graduations, if you’ve celebrated with Sandra, you know she gives every event her whole heart. Lupe is the same way. He works extremely hard every day in waste management, but when he’s not at work, he’s lending a hand to whoever needs it. Together they’ve become the people so many of us count on. They’re also proud parents to three beautiful children. After saving for a long time, they finally had the chance to replace the flooring in their home. To prepare, they packed nearly everything they owned into the garage. Then, early on September7th, a fire broke out. Thankfully, everyone made it out safely, but almost everything in the garage was lost. Clothing, furniture, kids’ items, keepsakes, so much of what takes years to build. It’s hard to put into words what a loss like this feels like, but right now this family that has given so much to others needs us. If you can donate, every dollar will go directly to helping them replace basic essentials and begin rebuilding.
