Help the Chitchian family to survive

Meet the Chitchian family from Nrnandzor village, Vatcho, Seda, Alexander, Vardan and Nareh. The village is located at the most southern point in Armenia, a few kilometres from the Arax river which borders Iran, and the Zangilan region of Artsakh, which is now under occupation. The place is extremely vulnerable given the proximity to Azerbaijan, which in 2023 forcibly removed the remaining Armenian indigenous population from Artsakh.
The only viable road that takes you to the village is nestled along the Arax river, bordering Iran and limited access which was once was the railway linking Nakhijevan to Azerbaijan, which Azerbaijan is now demanding access to, so to directly link its governing territories.
The family originally came from Getashen, northern Artsakh, which is now Azerbaijan. They fled in the late 1980’s following pogroms against Armenians and are under threat again. The village lives on subsistence farming of cows , pomegranates and Persimmon.
Vatcho and Alexander both fought in the 2023 Artsakh war defending Armenia’s territorial integrity, Alexander permanently damaged his left hand unable to use at all, and do not have access to any military disability pension.
Our family has had the privilege to stay and spend time with this family.
We are appealing for your support to help this family with the construction of a walk-in refrigerator in order to prevent their harvests from going bad before it is sold in market. This construction will help them to help themselves, and be more self-sufficient.
All funds raised will go directly to affected family and village, and donors will be updated on status of the project. To learn about our time there read Vahe's article here - https://armenianweekly.com/2025/01/09/my-time-spent-in-armenias-southernmost-village-nrnadzor/
Thank you for your support!
