Help the Chicago Tool Library Relocate

Tax deductible
In 2019 the Chicago Tool Library opened because of YOU. You joined as library members, shared your time, and donated tools that would change people's lives. This special community space was built with the care, compassion, and hope of hundreds of people.

Now we need your help to move the Tool Library into a larger space!

We are signing a lease at 4015 W Carroll Ave in West Garfield Park starting in 2023. This new space is 7,000 sq/ft compared to our current 1,200 sq/ft!

Why are we moving to a larger space (instead of a second, small location)?
  • We received a donation of 5,000+ tools from a fellow nonprofit that needs to be relocated ASAP
  • We want to create space for programming and events
  • We want our main library site to be more transit-accessible before considering multiple locations

In order to make this move a success, we're doing some serious fundraising. We need more staff salaries in order to provide new programs and services, not to mention our rent will be increasing (a LOT).

Because we opened six months before a global pandemic, we lost many opportunities to fundraise, compete for grants, and receive donations. We're racing to make up the difference so NOW is the time to become a donor to ensure Chicago has a world-class tool library now and forever.

We can't wait to show you what we can do!

With gratitude,

Tessa Vierk, Co-Founder and Executive Director
