We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone visiting this page. We are Martin and Lillian Sequeira, and we have taken the initiative to support our dear friends, the Castro Oliva family, who are facing an incredibly difficult financial situation.

In March 2021, Reina Oliva experienced a tragic incident while traveling home from visiting her son in Kentucky. As Reina stood up from her seat to use the restroom, the bus operator suddenly slammed on the brakes, propelling her violently from the back of the bus toward the front, nearly colliding with the windshield. This horrific accident resulted in severe injuries that necessitated hospitalization and ultimately led to Reina losing her job. Since then, she has been unable to work and is currently without any source of income, as her legal status is limited to and dependent upon her work permit. Despite her efforts to seek social security assistance and pursue legal action against the bus company, progress has stalled due to insufficient evidence and challenges on behalf of her law firm to present a compelling case.

Throughout this difficult journey, Reina has relied on the support of close friends and her two children, who do what they can to provide assistance, including seeking help from local food banks. Additionally, Reina’s husband, Alexis Castro, has been unable to work since 2022 due to chronic complications with diabetes. After having his left leg amputated, he recently had to undergo additional surgery to amputate a toe on his right foot, leaving him disabled and without a source of income. While they await resolution of their immigration status and related issues concerning his expired work permit, the limited funds he receives from his retirement benefits barely cover their living expenses.

The Castro Oliva family is currently facing the possibility of eviction from their apartment, where they have lived for 28 years. They owe $5,979.09 in rent and have never sought assistance until now.

Queremos expresar nuestra más profunda gratitud a todos los que visitan esta página. Somos Martín y Lillian Sequeira, y hemos decidido apoyar a nuestros queridos amigos, la familia Castro Oliva, quienes están enfrentando una situación financiera sumamente difícil.

En marzo de 2021, Reina Oliva sufrió un trágico accidente mientras regresaba a casa después de visitar a su hijo en Kentucky. Cuando Reina se levantó de su asiento para ir al baño, el conductor del autobús de repente frenó de golpe, propulsándola violentamente desde la parte trasera hacia el frente, casi chocando con el parabrisas. Este horrendo accidente le causó lesiones severas que requirieron hospitalización y, finalmente, la llevaron a perder su trabajo. Desde entonces, no ha podido trabajar y actualmente no cuenta con ninguna fuente de ingresos, ya que su estatus legal depende de su permiso de trabajo. A pesar de sus esfuerzos por buscar asistencia de seguridad social y emprender acciones legales contra la compañía de autobús, el progreso se ha detenido por falta de pruebas y los desafíos que enfrenta su firma de abogados para presentar un caso sólido.

A lo largo de este difícil camino, Reina ha contado con el apoyo de amigos cercanos y de sus dos hijos, quienes hacen lo posible por ayudar, incluyendo la búsqueda de asistencia en bancos de alimentos locales. Además, el esposo de Reina, Alexis Castro, no ha podido trabajar desde 2022 debido a complicaciones crónicas con la diabetes. Después de la amputación de su pierna izquierda, recientemente tuvo que someterse a otra cirugía para amputar un dedo del pie derecho, dejándolo discapacitado y sin ingresos. Mientras esperan la resolución de su estatus migratorio y otros problemas relacionados con su permiso de trabajo vencido, los escasos fondos que recibe de sus beneficios de jubilación apenas cubren sus gastos básicos.

La familia Castro Oliva se enfrenta actualmente a la posibilidad de ser desalojada de su apartamento, donde han vivido durante 28 años. Deben $5,979.09 en alquiler y nunca habían solicitado ayuda hasta ahora.
