In late May, Reese and Amanda Campbell’s life was turned upside down when a tree fell on their home in Deep East Texas. Since then, they’ve been fighting an uphill battle—with their insurance company and worsening living conditions—while trying to keep their family safe.
Here’s what they’ve been through:
• May 28 – A tree fell on their home. They filed a claim with Allstate.
• June 3 – An inspector came but never stepped inside. Allstate estimated minimal damage and denied the claim, offering only $2,000 toward repairs—far less than their $6,300 deductible.
• June 27 – Their roofing contractor found extensive damage and said the roof must be fully replaced. That same week, they began seeing mold in a closet.
• July 27 – A second inspection confirmed little change from the first report—still downplaying the damage.
• August 5 – Allstate scheduled another inspection with the roofer present, but the inspector never showed and stopped returning calls.
• Meanwhile, water actively drips into their son Jett’s room whenever it rains, and mold has spread through the hallway and beyond.
• In late August, heavy rain caused major interior damage, including the baseboards, ceiling, and floors.
• They brought in ServiceMasters for drying and had a mold specialist assess the damage—half their home needs to be gutted.
In early September, the Campbells had no choice but to move out.
They finally hired an attorney on September 17 after months of being ignored. But litigation is slow—they were recently told it may take up to 2 more years before they see any resolution.
To make things even more urgent: Amanda is expecting their fourth baby this September.
Their mold remediation alone is estimated at $22,000—and this doesn’t include repairs or the costs of being displaced for nearly a year (and counting).
This is a family who has done everything right. They insured their home. They’ve followed every step. And now they’re in limbo—with no home, mounting bills, and a baby on the way.
If you’ve ever been helped by the Campbells, loved them, or simply want to help a family in crisis—please donate. Every single dollar makes a difference.
And if you can’t give, please share this. Awareness matters.
