On Monday, June 22, 2026, Laurel Burnsed and her family experienced an unimaginable tragedy when a devastating house fire destroyed their home on Sanibel Island. In a matter of moments, they lost nearly everything they owned, including their beloved cat and cherished bird, making this heartbreaking loss even more painful.
For over 40 years, Laurel and her family have called Sanibel Island home. They are known throughout the community for their kindness, generosity, and active involvement in making the island a better place. They have always been the first to lend a helping hand, support a neighbor, or contribute to community events and causes.
Today, they need our help.
As they begin the difficult journey of rebuilding their lives, this fundraiser will help provide immediate necessities, clothing, personal items, and support for the many unexpected expenses that come with recovering from such a devastating loss.
Please consider donating whatever you can. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page with your friends, family, and community would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for helping surround Laurel and her family with the love, compassion, and support they have so generously given to others for so many years.
