TL;DR:
Dhanmondi Tutorial is closing down, and 10 of our beloved Buas and Darowans — who cared for us like family — are being left jobless at a older age and a difficult stage in life. We’re raising funds to give each of them at least two to three month’s salary (approx. $100) for each month to help during this tough transition.

Even $5–$10 can go a long way. Let’s come together, one last time, to support the people who helped raise us.

Hi, I’m Saleh — and like many of you, Dhanmondi Tutorial wasn’t just a school for me, it was home.
From Playgroup to A-Levels, every corridor, every classroom, every teacher and my friends shaped who I am today. My mom, Afroza Sultana, taught at DT’s junior section for 28 years. My sister studied here, my cousins too — this school raised us, and the people within it nurtured us.

Yesterday, I found out that our school is closing down for good.

It’s a heartbreaking moment. Years of neglect and mismanagement have finally taken their toll in the recent years. And while we all have memories and stories to hold onto and Yearbooks to look back on, there’s a group of people who are being left behind — our Buas and Darowans.

These are the people who showed up for us every single day — through heat, rain, and hartals. They weren’t just staff. They treated us like their own, remembering our names, holding our hands when we fell, walking us to the gate with care, and always, always showing up with kindness.

And now, they’re facing unemployment at an age where finding new work is incredibly difficult.

For transparency, there are currently 10 Buas and Darowans working at DT. They’ve been earning between 10,000–12,000 taka per month (around $100–$120), which, while higher than what many other schools offer (often just 5–6k), is still a modest amount given today’s cost of living. But despite the limited pay, they never treated their work as just a job. They showed up every day with care, commitment, and heart — and played a quiet, powerful role in raising generations of DT students.

Now, it’s our turn to show up for them.

We’re raising funds to give each of them a cushion — at least two to three months’ worth of salary — to help them stay afloat while they figure out their next steps. If we can raise just $100 per person for each month, that’s one entire month of peace and security for someone who gave their all to us.

Even a $5 or $10 donation makes a real difference. Every taka counts — it can help cover rent, groceries, a child’s tuition, or medicine. Let’s not let them walk away empty-handed.

Please give what you can — and just as importantly, share this with your DT friends and family. Let’s come together, one last time, and do something truly meaningful for the people who helped raise us.

We can’t save the school — but we can honor its spirit.
Let’s do this for the Buas. For the Darowans. For DT.

And of course 100% of what we raise will go to the Buas and Darowans and will keep you all posted here as we progress.

If you wish to pay through Bkash feel free to contribute here and include the note/memo "DT" when transferring.
