Help the Browns and Gateway Garlic rebuild their farmhouse
As we were out harvesting unbeknown to us, our house had caught fire. We are blessed and fortunate to have had no life lost in this fire.. unfortunately for us, we were in the middle of changing insurance and we were caught uninsured.
The house is not a total loss, but water damage has caused as much damage as the fire alone. The fire was confined to the upstairs and was started by a faulty outlet . Much as the downstairs ceilings have to be replaced, lots of flooring, wall repair, and paint.
The house is repairable and the structure is sound so we are going to rebuild. Sadly, with today’s lumber prices and other construction costs something like this could bankrupt us . Many of you have asked to help and have told us to set up a go fund me.
My set price of $50,000 is what my estimate would be to repair everything before the onset of winter.
This home is registered as a home for nearly a century, but existed as a barn long before then. It is reinforced with steel I-beams and sits on top of 17 foot deep cisterns. This house has so much history and we don’t wanna lose it but we fear some of the weight of the cost of repair may overwhelm us.
When I originally posted this on the Facebook page, I asked you guys for prayers.
usually, we are the ones giving ( advice and help where we can) and supplying locally grown produce.
At this point, we are asking for you to give to help keep us growing strong
But if you can give, I’m asking you to please give what you feel like you can..
Thank you to our friends and fans over the decade on Facebook, who have followed us and benefited from our advice in growing your own locally.
we are in gratitude and thanks for all the love you’ve shown us over this very horrible situation.
thank you
your farmer friend
Mark Brown
