On September 23, 2024, Kirsten and John Brady’s lives were forever changed when an uninsured motorist driving an ATV pulled out in front of them on a rural road in Maryland.
Kirsten suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and had to be airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She spent over three weeks in the Neurosciences Critical Care Unit, followed by time in the ICU, and was finally able to return home three months later, just before Christmas.
A Life-Altering Injury
Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Kirsten underwent emergency brain surgery to remove part of her skull and relieve swelling. She was:
• On a ventilator and then a trach for several weeks
• In a coma for the first month
• Unable to speak, walk, or eat
• Diagnosed with memory loss, double vision, seizures, and more
Since then, Kirsten has spent the past year bravely relearning how to talk, walk, and eat again through intensive therapy.
She is still wheelchair-bound, can only walk with assistance, and continues to struggle with speech and memory. She cannot be left alone at any time and requires constant care.
One Family, Doing Their Best
Kirsten is the proud mom of two sons serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, who are unable to be home to help. Her husband, John, has been her sole full-time caregiver for the past year, using all of his paid leave to care for her and hold their family together.
But now, after 13 months, John must return to work, and Kirsten still requires full-time assistance. Without help, she cannot safely remain at home during the day.
How You Can Help
We’re raising funds to provide in-home nursing or caregiver support, so Kirsten can stay in the safety and comfort of her home while John returns to work.
Your donation will help cover:
• In-home nursing or caregiver expenses
• Ongoing therapy and rehabilitation needs
• Medical bills (now totaling over $1 million)
Every Contribution Matters
If you're able to give, no matter the amount, it will make a real difference in Kirsten's quality of life.
If you're unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign to help spread the word.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, love, and support. You are helping give Kirsten the chance to heal with dignity and the care she deserves.
