For over eight years the Asheville Blade has brought hard-hitting local, independent journalism to our communities.

But last December two of our reporters were arrested for doing their jobs. This police persecution, widely condemned by press freedom organizations, has stretched our already-thin budget near the breaking point. Our co-op's entirely working class trans and non-binary people. We don't run ads and we don't have any corporate backers.
