Hello my name is Jessica and I am setting up this account to help my parents who just lost their home in the Park Fire.

Let me start by saying it makes us uncomfortable to ask for support in this way but considering the circumstances we found it necessary. My parents have lived in Cohasset around 7 years. They had downsized their belongings and animals and built a little cabin themselves to live in during their retirement years. They unfortunately did not have any kind of home insurance. My dad has been trying to retire but with the cost of living being so high he usually still has to work in the summer on the wildland fires as a dozer or excavator operator. When the Park fire began he was working on a fire near Aetna so my mom was home alone. She was wise enough to evacuate as soon as the warning came up but she only had her vehicle there and could only take some clothes and their 3 dogs. They have three goats that she had to leave behind, but fortunately they survived. Two of the goats had only minor injuries but one has more severe burns, and has to have daily bandage changes. They have been at one of the animal shelters set up for the Park fire and have been receiving excellent care. The care of the goats will soon be transferred back to my mom. My mom is currently being hosted by an amazing couple that are providing her a wonderful safe environment to stay in. My dad is now working on the Park fire.

The goal of this fundraiser is to get my parents settled in a new place to live and provide them with a few household necessities. We are looking for a rental in the Chico area. Please know that your financial support will be very carefully spent on housing and basic necessities.
