Help The Andersons Save Their Home & Pay Medical Bills

Donation protected
Have you ever known someone who exudes everything that is good and just in this world, but somehow continues to get capsized with one hardship after another? Well, I have become incredibly close to an entire family on the brink of losing everything. And, while I don’t believe anyone deserves hardships of this magnitude, these guys REALLY don’t.

ABOUT THE FAMILY
Meet the Andersons: a happy and loving family that would not just give you the shirt off their back – they would give you their entire wardrobe.

I met Katie in recovery. Both she and Brian have been sober for a number of years and have dedicated whatever time and resources they have available to help other suffering alcoholics and addicts overcome their addiction, find jobs, reunite with their families, and live fulfilling lives.

But despite living honest, sober, and selfless lives, they have been hit with so many adversities (chiefly, health-related issues) and they are about to lose their home.

For the past 5 years, Brian (husband and father) has been inundated with an unthinkable host of medical issues. He’s been diagnosed and treated for two rare diseases: Chiari Malformation and Symptomatic Tarlov Cyst Disease. This has resulted in various surgeries (including two major brain procedures) in an attempt to relieve the symptoms.

Brian has also developed epilepsy with an unknown root cause, characterized by grand mal seizures that leave him confused and unable to function for days after. Many of his seizures are so severe, that ambulatory services and/or hospital stays are necessary. They have even led to some brain damage. Doctors are still trying to find a treatment plan to stop the seizures from happening.

The medications Brian takes cause awful side effects including tremors, muscle weakness and atrophy, falls, incontinence, painful neuropathy, confusion, and difficulty staying alert.

All of this has resulted in Brian not being able to work consistently, leaving most responsibilities to his wife, Katie. This includes financial responsibilities, caring for their 1-year-old son and him, household chores, errands (as Brian can’t drive due to his epilepsy), etc.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Because of impending bills and becoming a single-income family, the Andersons are about to lose their home.

While the family has been working with a disability attorney, their lawyer says it will likely take 1-2 years to be approved. And even with disability, they will likely struggle for years just to pay off their medical debt.

Any financial support you can offer this wonderful family would be greatly appreciated – not just by them, but by all of us in Waynesville, NC. They are such an integral part of the community – specifically the addiction recovery community – that your donation wouldn’t just be helping the Andersons; it would be helping a lot of people.
