Becca and Brandon Alderman are both incredibly kind people who have long worked in different capacities as public servants. They bring warmth, joy, hospitality, compassion, and attentiveness to both their personal and professional interactions. They are people of good humor, incredible intelligence, thoughtful inclusiveness, impressive resilience, authentic sincerity, and have an unmistakable giving spirit… and they could right now truly use our help.

Becca is a licensed social worker who saw patients in the emergency room at the Providence St. Peter Hospital for six years before transitioning to work for the Washington State Healthcare Authority for nearly the past three years administrating programs which fund substance use treatment across every single county.

Brandon, after returning from his service of three deployments to Fallujah, has since saved lives in the Lacey, WA area as a paramedic for the past thirteen years.

Recently, Becca made the incredibly difficult decision to leave her role in state government due to a diagnosis of a dangerous, rare genetic connective tissue disorder known as Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, which weakens the heart and blood vessels, among other parts of the body. Extremely dangerous ruptures and aneurysms are possible due to this condition, and Becca decided it was best to focus fully on pursuing treatments and procedures which can improve prognosis of her condition while being able to spend more restorative time with her family. Brandon was fully supportive of this decision, planning to continue his work as a paramedic as his wife had time to seek care and heal. Her last day of state service is August, 31, 2026.

Shockingly, Brandon was involved in a motorcycle accident on August 24, 2026, breaking two of his lower vertebrae, his tailbone, and possibly experiencing some nerve damage. Brandon remains in the Puyallup Good Samaritan Hospital as of the writing of this post, while Becca is undergoing an invasive heart procedure on Friday, August 28, 2026. Brandon will not be able to work for at least two to four months and will need to undergo physical and occupational therapy before his return to service as a paramedic can be considered. Wearing a helmet undoubtedly saved his life from a particularly violent crash.

Their three-year-old son, Forrest, has also had a far from easy health journey. He was born at thirty-three weeks and spent forty-two days in the NICU at the University of Washington with a collapsed lung after Becca experienced seizures during pregnancy due to eclampsia. Forrest eventually caught up in his development thanks to two years of physical and occupational therapy. Since, he has developed a strong passion and enthusiasm for dinosaurs, spending time with the family’s dogs, bubbles, and creating and trying on costumes to flex his incredibly active imagination. Forrest also spends much time studying the wisdom and holds the utmost respect for his personal heroes: Bluey, Spider-Man, and the Hulk.

It would absolutely be incredible for our local communities to show up for both Becca and Brandon as they have for us, having overcome so much together, with so much more on the horizon. They have for so long given so much to so many and have been dealt a devastatingly difficult hand in the past handful of weeks. Hopefully this page can help to ease some of the mounting and compounding financial burdens so they can focus as much as possible on recovery and family.
