Help the Agliata Family Rebuild After Health Crisis & Sudden housing loss :

On September 1, 2022, my husband Anthony's dream came true — he became a career firefighter for the town of Edison, NJ. It was the next step in a journey he had already been on for over 15 years, serving as a dedicated volunteer firefighter for both Metuchen and Edison. Anthony has spent his life putting others first — protecting the community, answering calls at all hours, and sacrificing time, sleep, and comfort to help those in need.

But on May 15 2023, everything changed.

That morning, Anthony collapsed headfirst onto the sidewalk outside our home. He was unresponsive for 18 minutes .

That terrifying day was just the beginning of a long and painful journey. Since then, Anthony has been seen by specialist after specialist. He’s gone to a cardiologist, neurologist, and two different sleep disorder specialists to rule out narcolepsy, cataplexy, and other conditions. He has even been seen astera Cancer Care and a hospital in Philadelphia. We’ve gone back and forth to appointment after appointment — searching for answers.

During this time, Anthony’s independence was completely taken from him. He couldn’t walk alone, eat alone, or even use the bathroom without someone nearby. We lived in constant fear that he could collapse again at any moment. Despite our best efforts to keep him safe at home, we had to call 911 more than five times due to dangerous falls and unexplained medical episodes.

He was out of work for 88 days and ultimately terminated from the job he loved. That year of uncertainty and crisis took a massive toll on our family — emotionally, physically, and financially.

We tried everything we could to stay afloat, but we were constantly falling behind. Our bank account was frequently in the negative. We had to choose between paying bills and affording groceries. The medical expenses, lost income, and instability left us drowning in debt — and we're still trying to recover.

Then came another devastating blow. For years, we’ve lived in a home owned by Anthony’s family — a home we were told we’d one day be able to purchase. But just a month and a half ago, we were told the house is being sold due to my in-laws divorce. We were given less than six weeks’ notice to move — and if the house sells before June 30, we have to be out immediately.

My father Michael Molfetto has opened his home to us and this summer will be potentially moving in with him and or an aunt that lives in Metuchen.

We’re doing everything we can to find safe housing, but our credit and finances from last year’s crisis are holding us back. We’ve applied to place after place and keep getting denied. I’m applying for second jobs. We’re cutting back everywhere we can — but time is running out.

We never imagined asking for help like this. We’re embarrassed, but we’re also desperate — we’re parents doing everything we can to keep our family safe and together.

If you can donate, share, or pray for us during this time, we would be incredibly grateful. Every bit of support brings us closer to a fresh start and some long-overdue peace.

With heartfelt thanks,
The Agliata Family
