Anyone who knows Terra and Dustin knows two things: 1. They were made for each other, and 2: that they were meant to be parents. Unfortunately, life has not dealt them a fair hand in regards to starting a family.
These two met in high school and against the odds, have been in love ever since! They have been together for 17 years and married for 10! Shortly after marriage, they began trying to fulfill their dreams of starting a family!
Despite having symptoms of early menopause, doctors reassured Terra that everything looked fine and she was too young for something like that to happen. No additional testing was ordered. Years later, and with no success conceiving, they decided to seek additional help. It was sadly discovered that Terra was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, meaning her body no longer had eggs and was sent into a state of premature menopause. This was a devastating shock to them, creating a sense of loss to both Terra and Dustin. This news created an empty void in both their hearts as they tried to wrap their heads around the idea of never having the family they fantasized about. This was especially difficult for Terra who dedicates her life as a labor and delivery nurse. A job that she serves, day in and day out, to help other couples fulfill their dreams of having a family. Terra once said that for every baby she helps deliver, her heart explodes with joy for that new mama, and at the same time breaks a little thinking about the baby she may never have.
Terra and Dustin began looking into IVF as a way to grow their family. Of course they would need a donor egg since Terra has none of her own. Terra was put on hormone replacement therapy to give her body a chance of actually carrying a child of her own verses using a surrogate. Unfortunately, their insurance doesn’t cover any of the costs.
Here is a breakdown of the cost:
Terra and Dustin have two different options they can choose from when selecting eggs. They can choose frozen eggs from an egg bank or choose fresh eggs which comes from in-house donors. Prices start at $17,000 and can be up to $40,000. This doesn’t include scheduled appointments and/or any additional costs.
Her friends and family are reaching out to try and help Terra and Dustin pay for procedure and begin the process growing their family. Any donations made would be greatly appreciated.
