Meet Terema Darboe. She's the 1-year-old daughter of my friend Seedy Darboe and his wife Maimuna, who live in The Gambia. Terema suffered her first brain seizure at 8 months of age, and has been in and out of the hospital frequently since then. The Gambian doctors don't have the instruments or expertise to properly diagnose or treat Terema, so they have recommended the Darboes bring her to neighboring Senegal for EEG scans and treatment. That will cost $2,000—more than a year's salary for an average Gambian worker.
I've known Seedy long-distance for several years through a professional organization. We have been in close touch via WhatsApp and video calls throughout Terema's life, from her birth through her hospital journeys.
I remember the helplessness I felt when our daughter was in the neonatal ICU years ago. I'm hoping to raise enough money to allow the Darboes to receive the full $2,000 they need to get Terema an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
I appreciate your help, and I know Seedy, Maimuna and Terema will, too. Thank you very much.
