Our Story: Growing Community in Temescal

Hi neighbors, friends, and family,

For the past few years, we've been growing something special together in Temescal. We're the volunteers behind Temescal Open Edible Gardens (TOEG), a year-round community built by and for neighbors. Everything we do is guided by one simple goal: to build local connections through sharing and learning together.

Many of you have joined us for our favorite day of the year—our annual Temescal Open Edible Gardens Day on Saturday Aug 9. It’s when we're all invited into neighbors' gardens to discover what they're growing and exchange stories and skills. It’s a simple idea with a powerful result. We believe gardens are a natural starting point for connection, and in a world where it's easy to feel disconnected, these moments of sharing help us build a stronger community.

What started as a small gathering has blossomed into a beloved tradition that now welcomes more than 200 visitors into over 20 Temescal gardens each year. And now, we're asking for your help to keep it growing!

Why We’re Fundraising

As we enter our 3rd year, we’re fundraising to make our community activities more sustainable and accessible. Your donation helps us keep our flagship event free and welcoming for all. This year, your support will go towards covering our essential operational costs, including producing and printing creative materials, gardener and volunteer appreciation, website hosting, and more.
