We've launched a fundraiser to get a new and exciting project off the ground - can you help?
Teasel are a queer land justice co-op, who have been running events in Cardiff since 2024. We are passionate about ensuring that all communities have access to nutritious, organic food, and the skills to grow it themselves. Thanks to a Lottery Grant, we were able to organise and deliver events over a year and a half, which were invaluable in bringing together queer and trans folk to build community and share knowledge about food justice, foraging, nature, queer ecology and much more.
We're now fundraising to support the next stages of our work. We've secured access to a piece of land at Blas Gwent Veg, which we’ll be working from with volunteers to learn and teach practical skills in growing organic food. We’ll grow a variety of different vegetables and herbs to gain a wide understanding of what is feasible and practical in current climates and to serve the needs of our communities and what they eat and need regularly. Any food that is grown will be given to volunteer growers and donated to community food pantries.
Our long term goal is to secure an organic farm, cooperatively owned and managed by the community, and this opportunity is the perfect stepping stone to building confidence through hands-on, practical skills - we just need your help to get started!
What will your donations help us buy?
- Raised beds
- Organic Seeds
- Seating - benches and tables for people to eat lunch and rest in between growing
- Books and practical growing guides
- Home propagation tents / seedling trays
- Compost
- Green green waste compost - to add organic matter to the soil
