Help Rebuild Our Homes After Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Hello friends, family, and generous strangers,
My name is Tasheka Powell, and I live in Daytona Beach, Florida, and my family resides in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I am reaching out on behalf of my family living in Jamaica. Our family home, as well as the homes of my sisters and cousins, was completely destroyed by Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest storms ever to hit Jamaica.
We lost nearly everything: the roof collapsed, walls were flooded, personal belongings, cherished keepsakes, important documents—gone.
Our community and home in:
Catherine Hall/Bogue/Catadupa/St. Elizabeth were heavily damaged, and many families are now displaced.
In the midst of this crisis, we’re trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild our lives. the Funds will be spent to:
• Secure temporary housing
• Replace essential items like mattresses, clothing, kitchen supplies
• Rebuild our home so we can live in safety
Why This Matters:
Natural disasters of this magnitude devastate not just buildings but people’s sense of security and community. The vast majority of affected homes in the hardest-hit areas were significantly damaged or destroyed. By donating, you’re helping to restore more than a house—you’re helping rebuild lives.
We promise full transparency. There will be updates and photos of what has been done so you can see and know exactly how your generosity is making a difference. We’ll commit to keeping you posted every step of the way.
From Our Family to Yours:
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Whether you donate, share our campaign, or simply send a word of encouragement—you are making a real difference to us. We are incredibly grateful for your kindness and support.
With heartfelt thanks,
Tasheka Powell
On behalf of my family in Jamaica
