This is the story of Tannatt and I. We have not seen each other in almost 2 years since I called Bolivian police on my then wife, Lizette Gallegos Vargas, who is a clinical psychologist and teacher for the Bolivian police and military, for child abuse and attempted murder. After discovering my wife was involved in criminal activity with co-workers in the Bolivian police, including the falsification of her credentials and educational background, wire fraud, money laundering and cocaine trafficking, she became increasingly violent and tried to kill me. I have lived with the threat of death for almost three years now, and have survived several attempts on my life. After proceeding through the Bolivian legal system I realized that the corruption extends to every aspect of the legal process. As my wife is well connected I have had my life destroyed and have spent over $12,000 USD, a small fortune in Bolivia, only to realize that my son was being used to extort money from me through lawyers and corrupt judges, while my wife continues to try to have me killed or finds a way to have me incarcerated where her friends in the police can easily kill me. After having unreasonable child support payments imposed on me, my last lawyer simply stole the money I paid for child support and I have little recourse for action. I am due to be incarcerated in the next few weeks in San Pedro prison in La Paz, Bolivia, where I have been told by the Bolivian police I will be murdered. I am begging you for my son for help. I will not abandon my son to this.
I have contacted the US Embassy in La Paz for help, and as if to add insult to injury, they advised that I call local police in the event of an emergency. I contacted the FBI and have yet to receive a response. I contacted the US State Department and have yet to receive a reponse. I have had friends write U.S. reps in the house and senate and have yet to receive a response. I wrote President Biden and have yet to receive a response. Given the support a famous WNBA player received when she was incarcerateand for possesion of cannabis I feel my son and I, both U.S. citizens with clean criminal histories, have been wholly abandoned by our country.
The funds received will be used to continue to advocate for us, keep us out of harm's way, pay for legal advocacy and with the grace of God, relocate us back home.

My name is Caleb Brewer. I am a United States citizen living in La Paz, Bolivia. I am the owner of Solace Trekking and Tours, a small tour company here, and the father of Tannatt Brewer Gallegos, 7, who is also a United States citizen. I have lived here for over ten years.
I am writing to you because I have not seen my son in almost 2 years. After discovering my then wife, Lizette Gallegos Vargas, a psychologist and police employee, was involved in corruption, wire fraud, money laundering and cocaine trafficking with her co-workers in the Bolivian National Police, she tried to murder me. She had also been abusing our son. In September of 2020 I was at the doors of the US Embassy in La Paz with my son, pleading for assistance. They only told me to call the police, despite having explained the circumstances, and refused to help. They would not assist. After going to the police, who at first seemed helpful, I was pressured by many of Lizette's friends and family to suspend the charges or risk never seeing my son again.
After a year of living in constant fear for our lives I had no choice but to call police again in August of 2021, when the abuse and threats became too severe. Again the Embassy refused to do anything. When I did call police I was taken to jail on false charges and have not seen my son since. I have fought through the Bolivian court system for almost two years. I have spent over $12,000 and have not seen my son, despite presenting overwhelming video, audio and documented evidence of Lizette's criminal activity and propensity towards violence. I have had threats and attempts made on my life, have been victimized as a result of corruption throughout the legal process due to my ex-wife's connections, have had my privacy invaded, and have had attacks on my business. If I am for any reason incarcerated I will be immediately murdered, and I will go to jail if I can not keep up with the unreasonable child support payments imposed by the family court judge, who is a friend of my ex-wife. I have lived in fear for our lives for years and will not survive this much longer. This is essentially state sponsored murder on the part of Bolivia, and this is torture under no uncertain terms. I can not even find someone who will represent me anymore as they (Bolivian attorneys) fear for their own safety if they represent me. Bolivia is little more than a narcostate.
As I realized I had to do everything possible for my son and I, I have gone public with my wife's involvement with the police in criminal enterprise in the hopes the press in Bolivia, or the Bolivian government would intervene. It has only resulted in more death threats.
After contacting a friend in the FBI who recently retired, he told me to contact the FBI LEGAT office in Santiago Chile. When I did try to reach them the SO at the Embassy refused to connect me. My son lives in severe abuse, my life is under constant threat by my wife and her friends in the police who are involved in serious criminal activity that extends beyond Bolivia, and although I contacted the FBI in Washington as well, over a month ago, I have still not heard from them. The Embassy in La Paz will not respond to me.
I contacted the US State Department. They have not responded. I have tried the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They responded after five months and told me to contact the local police. Without advocacy I will be killed here for nothing but doing the right thing. My son will grow up in severe abuse and I will be murdered while thinking about that. My existence has been reduced to basic survival and hope that I will be reunited with my son is the only thing that keeps me going at this point.
My story is complicated, but it is all well documented. I am asking, begging, for my government to advocate for us. I believe that if this is permitted to occur to us it sets a very dangerous precedent. I am not famous, not rich, but I have committed no crime and am a United States citizen. What has happened to us is indescribable.
