Help Tamilin Rebuild Her Life After Tragic Loss

Hello, my name is Tamilin Martins, and I’m reaching out with deep humility and hope.

On January 22, 2025, my life changed forever. My beloved husband, Samuel, was killed in a car accident caused by a reckless driver who crossed a solid line and entered his lane, crashing into our car head-on. The accident is still under investigation. All I’ve been told is that someone else's actions cost us everything.

Samuel and I were together since February 2012 and married in 2016. We shared dreams, struggles, and deep love. In April 2022, we arrived in Canada full of hope to begin a new life — one with more safety, stability, and opportunity. We believed Canada was the place where we could build a future together.

For years, we thought we could never have children. Multiple medical tests and specialists had confirmed that possibility. But incredibly, two weeks after we arrived in Canada, we found out that I was pregnant. It was the most beautiful surprise — a miracle that brought renewed hope and joy into our lives. It also gave us even more certainty that Canada was where we wanted to raise our family.

At the time of the accident, our daughter was just 55 days old, and our son had just turned 2 years old. Samuel was the sole provider for our family while I was on unpaid maternity leave, not eligible for government support due to my monthly work hours. We were in the process of applying for Permanent Residency (PR) under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), with Samuel as the main applicant. After his passing, the PR application was cancelled, leaving me and our children without status or access to benefits.

I have applied for a Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) visa, and I’m also waiting on the processing of a restoration of status application — but both are still pending and without file numbers. In the meantime, I cannot work, and I do not receive child benefits or any financial support from the government.

We received some help from a GoFundMe campaign set up by close friends, and from Samuel’s life insurance, but those resources are temporary and running low. I am doing everything I can to keep our lives stable, especially for my children, but I’m reaching a point where I cannot do it alone.

I am asking for your help to cover basic living costs, including rent, baby supplies, legal fees, and other essentials while I wait for my immigration process to move forward. I can provide proof of my financial situation and how donations are being used.

This is the most painful and uncertain chapter of my life, but I am determined to stay strong for my children. Any donation — big or small — or simply sharing this campaign, would mean the world to us.
