Hi everyone,
I’m putting this fundraiser together for my dear friend Tamara, who is an incredibly strong mom to two amazing little girls.
Although Tamara and her children’s father have been separated for over a year, financial constraints have forced them to continue living under the same roof. It’s been a very difficult, unhealthy, and unsafe situation. Over this past year, Tamara has been doing everything she can to protect her girls and move forward—working closely with a women’s nonprofit for counseling and support, and staying on a county housing assistance list. Unfortunately, housing placements are rare and unpredictable, and the legal support she needs can’t begin until she has a separate address.
Recently, a rare and time-sensitive opportunity for safe, independent housing opened up starting in January. This would finally allow Tamara and her girls to have a peaceful home of their own and begin truly healing.
Tamara has stepped into a new role at one of her jobs and continues to take on freelance work, but as an independent contractor, recent illness, caring for sick kids, and the holidays have made this transition especially hard financially. Any funds raised will go toward the security deposit, rent, utilities, moving costs, and basic furnishings to help make the new space livable—especially since she’s unsure what she’ll be able to take with her.
Total Goal Calculation and Moving Cost Breakdown:
- Deposit: $1,600
- First month’s rent: $1,600
- Utilities (initial): $300
- Moving costs: $300
- Furnishings: $1,000
- Washer/dryer stack: $1500
- One extra month of rent+utilities: $1800
- Total = $8100
Asking for help doesn’t come easily to Tamara. This is a very vulnerable moment for her, and any support—whether through donating, sharing quietly, or helping in other ways—would mean the world to her and her girls.
Thank you so much for helping create a safer, healthier future for this beautiful family.
