A Voice for the Voiceless

Every day, countless individuals suffer in silence, trapped in cycles of domestic violence with nowhere to turn. Many victims face fear, financial dependence, and isolation, making it difficult to escape and rebuild their lives. But together, we can be their voice, their strength, and their hope.

The Reality of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate. It affects people of all backgrounds, ages, and socioeconomic statuses. In Tarrant County alone, thousands of survivors seek refuge each year, looking for safety, healing, and a second chance at life. The Tarrant County Women’s Center provides these survivors with essential services—emergency shelter, counseling, legal aid, and job training—helping them reclaim their independence. But they can’t do it alone.

Why This Matters to Me

Domestic violence isn’t just a statistic—it’s personal. My grandmother was a survivor.

In the 1970s, right here in the DFW area, she made the heartbreaking decision to leave her abusive marriage, hoping for a new beginning. With four children by her side, she reached out for help, desperate for safety and support. But when she arrived at a shelter, she was turned away—not because they didn’t care, but because there simply wasn’t enough funding to house her.

With nowhere else to go, she was forced to return home and continue enduring the pain. She felt abandoned, discouraged, and powerless. The help she needed wasn’t there, and because of that, she remained in an unsafe situation for years. We cannot let history repeat itself for so many other women.
