Please help us cover the fees that Meetup charges us to use their platform for the Triangle Reading and Nature Walk group!

This group is entering its fourth year, and has nurtured a community of people who like to get out in nature, read, and make friends while doing it. I and the other organizers have enjoyed hosting you on these walks, and developing friendships and community with you. We hope you've enjoyed it too, and made new and lasting friendships, or at least spent more time walking and reading and chatting in nature with good company!

Meetup charges organizers a fairly significant annual fee to use the platform. While it's free to you as members of the group, the organizers have to pay $300 each year to continue to post and manage events. And while we're glad to contribute our time scouting out trails, organizing, posting, and hosting the hikes, we're not so keen on shelling out $300 a year for the privilege of doing so!

So we're asking for your help to cover these costs. By crowdsourcing it we can split the costs among many people, so none of us has to pay a significant chunk of the $300 on our own.

If you've found value in this group, and especially if you plan to come to more events in the future, we'd appreciate if you could chip in $5, $10, $20, or however much you can contribute to help keep the group going. We're grateful to everyone who chipped in last year, and hope you will contribute to help us keep this group going on Meetup for another year.

And just to be clear, these are not required dues - participating in the group will continue to be free for all who join. We're just asking for help to share the cost burden that is imposed on us by Meetup. Once the goal is met and we have enough to cover this year's renewal fee, there will not be any more asks until the renewal comes up again next fall.
