Help Support the TNR of the Hamline Cat Colony

Tax deductible
Hi Newhall neighbors!

My name is Ashley and I helped with the trap-neuter-release (TNR) of the Campbell Ave. cat colony a couple years ago. The support of you wonderful folks made that operation a huge success, so I’m back again asking for help with another feral group in our neighborhood: the Hamline colony.

There are over 20 cats living on this street and in the surrounding businesses, either abandoned by unhoused owners or just victims of the feral cat epidemic that plagues so many neighborhoods in the Bay Area. These cats are not neutered or spayed and will continue to multiply if we don't take action.

The local shelters are completely full and TNR (trap/neuter/release) programs are also booked months in advance.

Luckily, we were able to get the support of Bay Area Cat Rescue to help trap these kitties and get them neutered/spayed. However, spaying/neutering costs about $200 per cat, and there are at least 20 cats (likely more) that we are trying to help.

This cost also includes vaccinations, flea treatment and ear tipping (a visible marker for outdoor cats that are fixed). In addition to keeping the stray cat population low, spaying/neutering dramatically decreases 'mating' behaviors such as yowling, fighting and urine spraying.

You can find out more about the efficacy of TNR programs and the benefits of spaying/neutering cats here: https://www.alleycat.org/resources/why-trap-neuter-return-feral-cats-the-case-for-tnr/

Donations are tax-deductible and any amount, big or small, will make a huge impact and directly contribute to the health and happiness of our community. Thank you in advance for your support!

More information about Bay Area Cats: Our organization provides resources and enables the community to do trap-neuter-return (TNR). We spend time training, educating, rescuing kittens, and assisting with TNR efforts. We help connect people to spay/neuter resources and support those with financial need. We maintain a Facebook group for the community (facebook.com/groups/bayareatnr) and provide resources via our website (bayareacats.org).
