Help Support the Surace family

Hi, I am Ian and I am raising funds to help Joe Surace and his family, particularly his wonderful mother, in their time of need.

Most of you know Joe and his family, but for those who don't, Joe Surace has been the closest thing to a brother to me as I'm sure to the rest of our childhood friends. I don't know where to start on the impact this family has had on all of us lucky enough to know them. From late nights at their home with the entire wrestling team eating pizza Joe's dad, Paolo, brought home every night from his pizza shop; Joe making every person in what ever room he was in laugh to tears; Lilly coming home from a grueling day as an ER nurse just looking to relax only to have to try and wrangle rowdy teenage goons down, but ended up succumbing to the chaos and join in the hilarity put on by Joe (a constant in the Surace home). Paul and Lilly treated all of us kids as their very own and Joe with his sister, Michelle, as their brothers. The Surace family gave so much to so many.

After high-school Joe was studying criminal justice with the hopes to become a police officer. During that time he joined the Army National Guard where he served his country with honor, courage, and commitment. Joe became the father of two beautiful children, Jessie Mae and Paulie. Joe was a dedicated man to his country and family.

Eight years ago Joe was diagnosed with a glioblastoma stage 4 brain cancer and given very little time to live. His condition declined at which point Lilly took him in to her home in order to care for him 24/7 - this was a monumental task as she was also caring for her ill mother. All the while still working as an ER nurse. In the months to come Joe's father Paolo was diagnosed with cancer also. Although they weren't together at the time, Lilly and her husband Richard proved their unwavering support for her family once again by also taking Paolo into their home and cared for him until his passing in 2017.

This family has been through the absolute ringer the past eight years. Joe has lost everything; his kids his wife his money and soon his life. His mother has given up her house, money, time and unfortunately forced to retire early to help Joe. Please help this family who have sacrificed so much. Any amount is welcome.
