On the evening of June 28th, 2024 a devastating multiple-house fire completely destroyed the two family homes of the Rodgers and Kaglik families including the loss of all personal effects.

Some fleeing their homes with literally only the clothes on their back, no shoes, no wallet, and no phone; the intensity and spread of this fire was rapid.

While extremely grateful that all persons who were in the homes were able to escape without injury, the Rodgers family lost one of their beloved 4-legged family members Blue in the fire.

This fundraiser is being organized by a group of volunteers and the Inuvik Community Events Society with the permission of Denny & Jo-Anne Rodgers as well as Cheryl Kaglik and is doing so on their behalf.

These families have endured the unimaginable. While no amount of money will be able to replace the precious personal items lost or the trauma to be felt for years to come, the funds raised will help each family begin to rebuild their lives as well as assist in their immediate expenses while they are displaced from their homes.

Both families and the entire community are grateful for the heroic efforts of the Inuvik Fire Department and many other first responders and volunteers on scene who came together to extinguish the significant fire. It was over 30 degrees in Inuvik on the night of the incident and the conditions were difficult.

Both families would like to humbly thank each and every person who has reached out to provide support and who has come forward to donate in this very difficult time.

For the sake of transparency, we would like donors to know that the funds raised in this campaign will be split 50/50 between both families.
