Nothing really prepares you for the words "your house is on fire". Yet, that was the message we received from our neighbor who saw the home next to ours engulfed in flames and assumed that our house was seconds from joining it. She was right. Embers were pelting our home, and it was not far off to think that the fire would be spreading to the rest of the homes in the neighborhood. Fortunately, the Portsmouth Fire Department rallied their firefighters and several other towns' firefighters to battle the blaze. Their efforts could not save the burning home but did save ours and potentially several more.

We are extremely grateful for the efforts of the Portsmouth Fire Department and wish to do our small part to give back to them. Funding for the fire department is tight. Money collected by the fire department will go towards the purchase of items that benefit the health, welfare, and comfort of the members that are not accounted for in the regular budget.

We are thrilled to be able to host a benefit party to raise funds for the department and appreciate any contributions. Thank you.
