Help support the Golds after the Eaton Fire took their home

Please consider helping our family reconstruct my parents lives and home.

In the early hours of January 8th, 2025, my parents lost their home of over 40 years, my childhood home. Along with the house, we also lost our neighborhood and the vast majority of Altadena, CA to the Eaton Fire. Thankfully our family is safe. My parents, sister, and her partner were able to evacuate the house with their pets Luna and Kiki, a few important documents, and some family photo albums. The photo you see here was taken by a friend in the immediate aftermath of the fire. Pictured is our stone front porch … it's all that’s left of my family's home. It is unimaginably hard to process a loss of this magnitude. While my family is slowly coming to terms with our new reality, it is becoming clear that it will be a long and difficult road to rebuild their lives.

In the week since the fire, the National Guard has been brought in to Altadena. My parents have not yet been allowed to go see the remains of our house in person because the area is still smoldering, dangerous with downed lines, leaking gas and covered in toxic ash. The depth and breadth of the devastation, not just for my family but for our community, will have a lasting impact for many years to comes. Our solace in this disaster has been our friends and loved ones. We are all remaining hopeful that the community we built our lives around will persevere. My parents unwaveringly believe that the community is strong, bonded, and resilient.

We are fortunate and grateful to have insurance on our former home, yet realistic enough to know that it won’t cover all the costs of the long and complicated process of restructuring of their lives. We are humbly asking for donations from our friends, family, and loved ones to help Seth and Julie rebuild from all that was lost in the fire. We are so appreciative of any who are deeply committed to helping this wonderful community rebuild in all its diversely vibrant uniqueness. We are grateful for any and all help.
