It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Danny Sathuphap, a kind, loving, and courageous soul who fought an incredibly brave battle against a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer. Danny, diagnosed in August 2023 with poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of mediastinal origin, fought valiantly for 15 months, undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunosuppressant treatments at Ipswich Hospital and St. Bart’s Hospital in London.

Danny’s only concern during his illness was the wellbeing of his parents, as he was their only child. For them, the weight of this diagnosis was not just emotional, but financial as well. Danny’s mother became his full-time caregiver when he was no longer able to work as a support worker. Despite their immense love and the help of close friends, Danny’s parents faced many challenges—financial strain, emotional hardship, and the burden of constant travel between Ipswich and Southend, where Danny’s father worked as a head chef in a family-owned restaurant.

Danny’s passing has left a profound hole in the hearts of his parents, who immigrated to the UK from Thailand in the late 1990s to provide a better life for their family. Those who knew Danny know his love of family, friends, travel, and good food. He was a light—kind-hearted, selfless, and always putting the needs of others before his own. He cherished his family deeply and was determined to ensure their future was secure, even in his final months.
